Time went by so quickly. On July 2, Liaoning University of Technology grandly held the 2021 graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony. All the graduates gathered in the playground and went to the youth appointment of Liaoning University of Technology. The leaders of the university, members of the Academic Degree Committee, heads of relevant functional departments, members of the leading groups of each college, members of the sub-committee of the Academic Degree Committee, teacher representatives and counselors of all the graduates of Period 2021 jointly witnessed the glorious moment of the graduates of Period 2021. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Tan Wendong.
The graduation ceremony officially began. The class of national flag was valiant and sonorous. The whole audience stood up and sang the national anthem, and the bright five-star red flag fluttered high in the sky.
The heads of relevant functional departments announced the list of undergraduate students with diplomas, the list of provincial excellent graduates, the list of excellent graduates of the university, the list of Party members of provincial excellent graduates, the list of graduates who joined the army during the university, the list of graduates of the West Volunteer Service Plan and the list of graduates’ grade board appointment, and the leaders of the university issued certificates to the students respectively.
Qian Yingwei, Secretary of the Party Committee, awarded honorary certificates to provincial outstanding graduate Party members and representatives of graduates who joined the army, and draped ribbons and flags for graduates who supported the west project.
Cao Cheng, an outstanding alumni, a graduate majoring in Technology and Economics of Period 2000, the winner of the “May 4th Honorary Medal of Liaoning Province”, a model worker of Jinzhou City, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jinzhou Port Co., Ltd., sent graduation greetings to the graduates. He shared his employment experience and struggle process, and encouraged his younger brothers and sisters to always maintain their original heart, have the ambition of serving the country, and let the flowers of youth bloom in the places most needed by the motherland.
Hu Xinyuan, a student of class 172 of economic statistics in the College of Economics and Management, made a speech as a representative of graduates. She shared with everyone the years of pursuing dreams in Liaoning University of Technology, and inspired herself to write the chapter of youth worthy of her alma mater, the country, the people and the times.
Xu Yan, a student of class 181 of process in the College of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, made a speech. On behalf of the students at the university, he congratulated the elder brothers and sisters who were about to leave the university, and looked forward to working with them to contribute their youth to the construction of the motherland after they became successful people.
Yuan Yuan, a teacher of the College of Cultural Media and Art Design, the winner of the May Day Labor Medal of Liaoning Province, made a speech on behalf of the teachers. She expected the students to broaden their horizons, learn to cooperate, have the courage to keep going, keep learning, and have the freedom of choice and the ability to pursue happiness.
Professor Wang Qi, President and Chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the university, made a speech. He extended his warmest congratulations to all the graduates of Period 2021 who studied hard and achieved success! At the moment of parting, he sent a message to the graduates: “keep goodness firmly in mind, keep lifelong learning.” He put forward three hopes for graduates: the first one was establishing lofty ideals and starting from the minor matter. Students should have lofty ideals and aspirations, start from the minor matter, stick to it, write youth with sweat and create miracles with struggle. The second one was learning from the spiritual strength in the history of the Party and studying hard. Students should know history, love the Party, love the country, inherit the red gene and continue the spiritual blood of the Chinese Communists. The third one was upholding the spirit of the university motto “sharpening tools and understanding the truth”, and learning creatively. He hoped the students could stick to their original heart like a rock in hone, be polite and moral in the work of innovation, seek change, progress and victory in the work of innovation, and serve the society and the country.
The graduation song of this year “may you” was adapted from “you are the April day of this world”, written by Li Wenjun, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee. Teacher Wang Han, teacher Li Gang, student Jin Xiaoxu and graduate Zhang Yongsheng sang together. They hoped that the graduates of Period 2021 would become more and more brilliant in the days when they leave Liaoning University of Technology, and the future would always be shining, the graduates would overcome the obstacles and have a great future!
The degree awarding ceremony officially began. All the graduates stood up and tidied the attire. The leaders of the university and members of the Degree Evaluation Committee stepped down from the rostrum to award degrees to graduates. Graduates dressed in degree clothes. Their gaze remained steady and they were full of passion. They bowed to the teachers and thanked them. The leaders of the university and members of the Degree Evaluation Committee of the university straightened the tassels for each graduate and shook hands one by one.
The graduation ceremony ended in a warm atmosphere in which teachers and students were reluctant to part. The graduates of Period 2021 were about to embark on a new life journey. This year coincided with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 70th anniversary of the founding of Liaoning University of Technology. They were born in a prosperous era and shouldered heavy burdens. Their alma mater was their eternal harbor. Liaoning University of Technology wished the graduates of Period 2021 set sail for a new era and embark on a new journey!
According to the custom of “farewell with dumplings, welcome with noodles”, our university held a dumpling banquet to send off the graduates of Period 2021 in the first canteen to express the good wishes and ardent hopes of the alma mater to the graduates before they leave the university. There were celery stuffing and Chinese cabbage stuffing in the dumplings respectively, which represented “hard work, hundreds of talents are accessible”. The university hoped all the graduates could realize their life value through their own efforts.
