The City of Jinzhou is located in the southwest of Liaoning Province and sits at the east end of Western Liaoning Corridor, and has been the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Western Liaoning Corridor since ancient times. Written into the royal history due to mulberry-planting and brocade-weaving, Jinzhou has long been known as a City of Brocade. The whole city covers a total area of 10,301 km?, with 124 km? of coastal lines and a total population of 3.02 million. Jinzhou is the regional center city in western Liaoning region. With a history of 2,200 years, the City of Jinzhou got its name since the Liao Dynasty. In 1949 at the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Jinzhou became the Capital City of Liaoxi(Western Liaoning) Province and the regional political, economic and cultural center city in western Liaoning region. The City serves as a transportation hub connecting North China and Northeast China, with Beijing-Harbin Railway,Jinzhou-Chengde Railway, Qinhuangdao-Shenyang Passenger Railway, Beijing-Shenyang Highway, Jinzhou-Fuxin Highway, Jinzhou-Chaoyang Highway all running through the city. The newly built Jinzhou Bay Airport is the only international 4C airport for civil use in western Liaoning region. Jinzhou is one of the important industrial cities in Northeast China. Dated back to the 1960s, Jinzhou was named by the State Council of China “New Industrialized Region”. Jinzhou is an important port city in China’s Pan-Bohai Sea region. Jinzhou Portis China’s northernmost first-class business seaport and China’s first seaport listed in the stock market, ranking among China’s top 20 seaports. Jinzhou Port has established international ship routes with more than 80 countries and regions around the world. The western part of Northeast China, the east Inner Mongolia, Mongolia and Fast East of Russia are all within the radius of the Port. Up to now, the Port has built 27 berths. The total handling capacity of cargo goods and containers reached 109 million tons and 1.62 million TEU respectively in 2018.
